The Chase

People often think that when they will finally achieve what they've been chasing for a long time, they’ll feel proud or fulfilled and even changed somehow. But more often than not, what they really feel is…relief.

 “It’s done."

Their feelings on how they imagined the achievement would feel trumps the gratefulness they have within. We have been raised to believe that success will feel like fireworks, or that everything will make sense after reaching the milestone.

When it arrives, life often still feels the same with a tinge of happiness. The chase goes on.

We keep chasing, the next title, the next promotion, the next version of “better.” The present moment just becomes a brief checkpoint and never a place to pause.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is a classic example of this phenomenon. Bunny had everything he ever wanted, the dream job, the travels, the adrenaline of never standing still. In the middle of it all, he realizes something's missing. The life he was running after had become so loud that he couldn’t hear himself anymore.

Success isn’t always a crescendo. Sometimes, it’s silence.

We perceive straight roads as the only way forward, but when people stray from the plan, miracles are discovered. Paths bend, life detours, achievements get delayed and somehow, it still comes together.

Not every win will feel like a win. The real success is not in the destination, but in the ability to be present.
